WSET Intermediate Certificate

This course is perfect for those with a good basic knowledge of wine. It is the natural progression after completing the Foundation course. However, the Foundation is not a prerequisite before starting the Intermediate.

We have a large number of general interest wine enthusiasts as well as people working in the hospitality industry and wine trade. This is a great course because there is sufficient time to go into more detail about all the major countries producing wine. In the 9 week course you will taste over 85 wines. We always showcase some of the top wines of each country.

There are two options:

  • Option 1: 9 week course - 1 evening per week from 6.30-9.00 pm.
  • Option 2: 3 day course - all day from 9.30 am-5.30 pm. The 3 day course is perfect for those who cannot commit to 9 evenings. The study guide is mailed to you in advance of the course.

During the course you will learn about:

  • Growing grapes
  • Making wine
  • The art of tasting
  • Food and wine matching
  • The classic grape varieties
  • French and German wines
  • Italian, Spanish and Portuguese wines
  • New world wine regions
  • Sparkling and Fortified wines
  • The major spirits

The Intermediate exam involves a multiple choice question paper with 50 questions. The pass mark is 55%. Our pass rate is over 90% for this qualification. The exam takes place at the very end of each course.
