The Level 2 Intermediate Certificate naturally follows on from the Level 1 Foundation, although you are not required to take the Foundation if you already have a very good understanding of wine.

This is an excellent course because we go into detail about all the major countries and wine regions. You will learn about:

  • Growing grapes
  • Making wine
  • The art of tasting in detail
  • Food and wine matching
  • The classic grape varieties
  • French and German wines
  •  Italian, Spanish and Portuguese wines
  • New world wine regions
  • Sparkling and Fortified wines
  • The major spirits

There are two options:

  • Option 1: 9 week course - 1 evening per week from 6.00-9.00 pm.
  • Option 2: 3 day course - all day from 9.30 am-5.30 pm. The 3 day course is perfect for those who cannot commit to 9 evenings. The study guide is mailed to you in advance of the course.

In the 9 week course you will taste over 80 wines. We always showcase some of the top wines of each country. We have a large number of general interest wine enthusiasts as well as people working in the hospitality industry and wine trade. If you want to have a very good understanding of the world’s wines and a real ability to taste then this is the course for you.

The Intermediate exam involves a multiple choice question paper with 50 questions. The pass mark is 55%. Our pass rate is 97% for this course. The exam takes place at the very end of each course.
