ABOUT THE TOUR & REGION
WACHAU
The Wachau Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is Austria’s most celebrated wine region—where steep, terraced vineyards overlook the Danube River and centuries of winemaking tradition meet world-class quality. The region is famed for its elegant Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, shaped by a cool climate and ancient soils.
Some of Austria’s most esteemed wineries call the Wachau home. F.X. Pichler is known for powerful, expressive single-vineyard wines, while Weingut Emmerich Knoll pairs rich tradition with iconic labels and a refined style.
THE CROWN JEWEL OF AUSTRIA‘S WINE REGION
Domäne Wachau, one of Europe’s top cooperatives, produces terroir-driven wines from legendary sites like Achleiten. Nearby in Kamptal, Weingut Bründlmayer sets the benchmark for Austrian winemaking, with elegant, organically produced wines that are admired worldwide.
The Wachau offers more than just great wine—it’s a journey through storybook villages, hilltop castles, and unforgettable cellar tastings in one of Europe’s most beautiful wine landscapes.
VIENNA: A HARMONIOUS BLEND OF CULTURE, CUISINE, AND VITICULTURE
Nestled in the heart of Europe, Vienna’s First District (Innere Stadt) is a UNESCO World Heritage site that encapsulates the city’s imperial grandeur and vibrant cultural scene. Strolling through its cobblestone streets, you’ll encounter architectural masterpieces like the Vienna State Opera, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and the Hofburg Palace. This district is not only a testament to Vienna’s rich history but also a hub for world-class museums, art galleries, and classical music venues.
CULINARY DELIGHTS AND WINE EXPERIENCES
Vienna uniquely intertwines urban life with viticulture, boasting over 1,700 acres of vineyards within city limits . A visit to Mayer am Pfarrplatz offers insight into sustainable winemaking practices. Situated on the Bisamberg and Nussberg hills, the winery is renowned for its Gemischter Satz, a traditional Viennese field blend that reflects the city’s diverse terroir.
For sparkling wine enthusiasts, the Schlumberger Sparkling Wine Cellars provide a captivating journey through Austria’s oldest and largest sparkling wine cellar. Explore the labyrinthine cellars and discover the traditional methods of sparkling wine production in an ambiance steeped in history.
A SWEET CULINARY TRADITION
No Viennese experience is complete without indulging in its famed pastries. At the Gerstner K. u. K. Hofzuckerbäcker Show, located near Schönbrunn Palace, you can learn in a workshop to master the art of making the original Viennese apple strudel. Learn the secrets of stretching the dough paper-thin and savor the fruits of your labor in a setting that echoes imperial elegance.
Vienna seamlessly blends its historical charm with contemporary delights, offering an unforgettable experience for lovers of culture, cuisine, and wine
