Billecart-Salmon

Billecart-Salmon is a magical, family-owned House in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. We learn the basics of making great Champagne, especially Rose for which it is arguably the leader, and taste a range of wines accompanied by a delicious lunch. www.champagne-billecart.fr

Bollinger

The favourite Champagne of James Bond, the gals on Absolutely Fabulous, and of course, Her Majesty the Queen. Bollinger is stately yet cool. The wines are fantastic, very rich, and full. The famous vineyard, Clos Vieilles Vignes Françaises, is just across the street. www.champagne-bollinger.com

Hostellerie La Briqueterie

Around 6:30 pm we check into our hotel just outside Épernay. La Briqueterie is a 5-star member of the luxurious Relais & Châteaux group with spa, gardens, pool, and bar. This beautiful estate will be our home for the first 2 nights, and we will celebrate the start of our tour with a gourmet dinner, including a range of Champagnes and wines, in their delightful restaurant. www.labriqueterie.fr

Day 2
Tuesday, October 23rd – Champagne

10:15 am - Depart Hotel

Reims Cathedral
A visit to Champagne would not be complete without visiting the 13th century Cathedral where numerous Kings of France were crowned.  It is an impressive historical monument in the heart of the city of Reims, and not to be missed.

Taittinger
Taittinger has been an important family-owned House since 1945 but the chalk caves of this beautiful property date back further to the 4th century. The finesse of Taittinger Champagnes derives from the dominance of Chardonnay in the blends with the Comtes de Champagne ranking amongst the most luxurious of prestige cuvées. We’ll have lunch paired with the exquisite wines of Taittinger overlooking the vineyards. www.taittinger.fr

Krug
I’m not sure what to say about Krug. Superlatives seem not to do it justice. For me, it is the greatest of all the Houses.  It’s also very exclusive and a visit here is a special occasion. www.krug.com

Moët & Chandon Dinner
Dinner in the evening will be hosted by Moët & Chandon. This is another extravagant affair with a tour of the cellars followed by cocktails and a decadent 4-course meal. This is a life experience. www.moet.com

Day 3
Wednesday October 24th - Chablis

9:45 amCheck-out and Depart Hotel
It’s time to explore the beautiful wines of Chablis.

La Chablisienne
La Chablisienne is an important, quality-driven co-operative which accounts for 25 percent of the production of Chablis. Following our drive from Champagne we’ll taste these special Chardonnay-based wines and relax over an informal lunch. www.chablisienne.com

Domaine Long-Depaquit
A family estate that is owned by top Burgundy négociant Albert Bichot, Domaine Long-Depaquit is a smaller entity but with an enviable range of Grand Cru wines.

Hostellerie le Cèdre
We check into one of the top hotels in Beaune, Le Cèdre. It is a 5-star hotel located in the heart of the town. Later that evening there is an optional 4-course dinner at their highly-regarded Clos du Cèdre restaurant, but if you would like to have a free night feel free to opt out. www.lecedre-beaune.com/en

Day 4
Thursday October 25th – Burgundy

10:00 am – Depart Hotel

Joseph Drouhin
Our visit to Burgundy will begin with a short stroll through the streets of Beaune to Joseph Drouhin. Founded in 1880, Joseph Drouhin is one of the most highly regarded family-owned négociants in the area with more than 60 hectares of prestigious Premier and Grand Cru vineyards. Following a tour of the cellars we will have a Grand Cru tasting extravaganza from 6 different vineyards. www.drouhin.com

Bouchard Père et Fils
Dating back to 1731, nine generations of Bouchards steered this House to be a leading producer in Burgundy. It’s modern reputation dates from 1995 and the arrival at the helm of Joseph Henriot. Set in a 14th century fortress, a tour of their cellars and tasting of their wines will be followed by a light lunch.
www.bouchard-pereetfils.com

After lunch the afternoon is free to discover Beaune, its famous Hospice and the shops of this town, one of the most beautiful in the wine world.

Le Montrachet
Set in the iconic village of Puligny-Montrachet, Le Montrachet is a luxurious boutique restaurant where we will have our final dinner together. The meal will feature a 5-course dinner made from local and seasonal ingredients paired with delicious red and white Burgundy. www.le-montrachet.com

Day 5
Friday, October 26th – Burgundy

9:45 am – Check-out and Depart Hotel

Louis Jadot
Jadot is one of the very best merchant-producers in Burgundy producing 125 different wines. We visit the modern cellars and learn about the different appellations, terroirs, winemaking methods and most importantly, what constitutes truly fine Burgundy. A comprehensive tasting helps set the scene. www.louisjadot.com/en/

Domaine Comte Senard
The Domaine du Comte Senard in Aloxe-Corton is currently in its 5th generation of family ownership. Amongst the Grand Cru wines of the estate is the exclusivity of the Corton Clos des Meix vineyard.  We visit this special vineyard as well as the 14th century cellars and end with a 3-course lunch paired with 6 Grand Cru wines.www.domainesenard.com/en/

Domaine des Lambrays
We complete our tour with a visit to the Côte de Nuits and the prestigious Domaine des Lambrays in Morey-St.-Denis. The origins date from 1365 but more recently the domaine with its 8.66-hectare Clos des Lambray Grand Cru vineyard, hit the news when it was acquired by the LVMH group for a reported €100 million. The tour ends on a high note with a tasting of these exceptional wines. www.lambrays.com

7:00 pm – Tour ends
From the Domaine des Lambrays the bus will arrive in Dijon by 7:00 pm for guests who wish to catch a TGV train back to Paris.
