Fine Vintage is the creator and sole provider of the Fine Vintage Canadian Wine Scholar certification program. The program was developed by James Cluer MW, David Lawrason and David Munro.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Canadian wine industry is extremely dynamic and growing rapidly. There are over 700 wineries spread across 6 provinces employing over 37,000 people and generating over $9 billion in grape-related economic impact. The changes in the last 25 years are nothing short of staggering.

In this course you will learn about:

  • All the major and minor wine regions in Canada
  • Terroirs, key producers, and trends
  • The appellations and laws
  • The monopolies and distribution
  • Taste over 30 benchmark examples

TASTINGS & INSTRUCTION

During the 2 day course you will taste over 30 benchmark examples of wines from the leading producers in a wide variety of styles. You will taste wines from the key appellations as well as those from Nova Scotia, Quebec and Vancouver Island.

A select handful of our instructors teach this course, including Canada’s leading expert. They have in-depth knowledge and experience in Canadian wine. Our extensive study guide is updated annually and is the reference text for the country.

CERTIFICATION

At the end of the 2nd day there is a 50 question closed-book multiple-choice exam. We have a 94% pass rate and prepare you well for the exam. Upon successful completion you will receive a beautiful Fine Vintage certificate. This is highly regarded by employers.

As soon as you register we email you a PDF study guide that is over 50 pages. It’s fascinating, and you can read it prior to the course so you are well prepared. We also send you a Key Facts document. Hard copies are given out at the course.

TASTING GLASSES

If you have taken a course with us before then please bring your Fine Vintage tasting glasses with you.

If you do not have our set of 6 tasting glasses you will need to purchase them at registration for $49. These are then yours to keep forever.
