ABOUT THE TOUR & REGION
BAROLO-ITALY’S WINE OF KINGS
We gather on Monday morning at a 4-star hotel in vibrant Milan, Italy’s capital of fashion, finance, and culture, before departing by luxury coach to the picturesque Langhe Hills of Barolo. Produced from Nebbiolo and celebrated worldwide for its complexity, elegance, and longevity, Barolo is Italy’s renowned “Wine of Kings.” Our first stop is the original Barolo wine cellar for a tour, tasting, and lunch, followed by a visit to Barolo’s historic castle.
We then check into our luxury boutique hotel and spa, nestled among the vineyards. That evening, a welcome dinner awaits at one of Italy’s most celebrated Michelin-starred restaurants, where sublime cuisine is matched by a cellar housing over 60,000 bottles from 450 producers—a fitting introduction to the delights ahead.
MORE BAROLO…
Our second day is devoted to Barolo, with visits to several premier estates where we will taste a range of wines from the appellation’s distinguished MGAs or their greatest “crus”. Throughout the day, we will immerse ourselves in Barolo’s terroir, discovering the nuances shaped by its diverse soils and styles. We will also taste a selection of exceptional wines made from other local varieties. Lunch will showcase the region’s cuisine, accompanied by a selection of carefully selected wines.
This evening is free to explore the historic town of Alba— a UNESCO “Creative City of Gastronomy”— or to relax with a leisurely dinner at the hotel’s award-winning restaurant.
PASTA MAKING, DOGLIANI & ANOTHER MICHELIN MEAL
Day 3 offers a welcome pause, with a free morning to relax at the hotel, explore Alba, or discover the craft of pasta making alongside the restaurant’s chef.
Following a light lunch, we head south to a historic estate to explore Dogliani, home to the region’s finest expressions of Dolcetto, as well as its charming town. More Barolo will flow as we finish the evening at a one-starred Michelin restaurant set among the vineyards.
A SPARKLING FINALE
On our final day, we head north to the UNESCO-listed Underground Cathedrals of Canelli to delve into the world of sparkling wines, visiting a historic producer and tasting a range of their refined, mineral-driven Alta Langa.
We conclude the tour with a visit to a distinguished producer showcasing Barbera d’Asti, Piedmont’s most widely planted red grape variety.
Following lunch, we make the return journey to Milan, reflecting on what has been and say our farewells to fellow travellers.
On a Fine Vintage tour, you’ll get privileged access to people, places, and wines. It’s really quite an experience.
FABULOUS FOOD AND WINES
The intimacy of authentic, family-owned and run restaurants and the creativity of the top chefs at several of Italy’s finest Michelin-starred restaurants is a particular feature of this tour. Experience these pairings with Fine Vintage, where you never go hungry, nor will you go thirsty as fine wines are paired with every dish.
MEET YOUR HOST
Our Luxury Wine Tour to Piedmont is guided by Master of Wine Robin Kick.
Originally from the Chicago area, Robin now calls Switzerland home—just a short drive from some of Europe’s most legendary wine regions. Her love of wine began early, leading her to study in Burgundy and at the Université du Vin in the Rhône Valley. She then honed her expertise in the U.S. as a wine auction specialist at Christie’s Beverly Hills before returning to Europe to work as the wine buyer for one of London’s most celebrated wine merchants. She earned her Master of Wine title in 2014, becoming a recognized specialist in Italian and French wines.
Deeply connected to both Italy and Burgundy, Robin is frequently invited to judge wines at major international competitions. But what truly sets her apart is her infectious enthusiasm and approachable style—she makes wine, food, and travel feel fun, inspiring, and unforgettable!
