TUSCANY WINE TOURS

A private tour for lovers of fine wine and great food

TAKE A PRIVATE LUXURY WINE TOUR TO
TUSCANY ON YOUR OWN SCHEDULE

Fine Vintage offers a spectacular 3-day tour of Tuscany to visit a selection of the most famous wineries. Starting in Florence and ending in Siena, you can book this as a private tour, just for your group, which can be as small as 2 people or a maximum of 6. The chauffeur and winery hosts will graciously guide you.

Every morning you will be picked up by your chauffeur in a luxury vehicle at 10 a.m. Pick-up is at a hotel or Airbnb of your choice. Every evening you will be dropped off at your accommodation by 7 p.m.

On the first day, your driver will pick you up at your hotel of choice in Florence and whisk you off to the rolling hills of Chianti Classico. Your day includes private visits to two boutique wineries as well as a long, savory Tuscan lunch where the wonderful wines will flow. Fontodi, Castello di Monsanto, Badia al Coltibuono, and Quercia al Poggio are among the estates that typically welcome us. After lunch, your chauffeur will take you to your accommodation of choice in Siena.

Departing from Siena on the second day you will visit the lovely, scenic town of Montepulciano where your day begins with a visit to a local pecorino cheese factory. Two more amazing estates and a decadent lunch are on the agenda for the rest of the day. Avignonesi, La Braccesca Antinori, Poliziano, and Contucci are favorite visits that we often include in our itinerary. You will return to your Siena hotel that evening by 6pm for another free night to explore the shops and restaurants of this beautiful city.

The third and final day is an exploration of Montalcino, one of the prettiest medieval hilltop towns you could ever see. Magnificent Brunellos and another fabulous lunch await you at such estates as Argiano, Castelgiocondo Frescobaldi, Sesti, and Podere le Ripi. After your two visits, long lunch, and free time exploring the lanes of Montalcino, your personal driver will drop you off at your hotel in Siena by 7 p.m.

The price is approximately $3,500USD per person for groups of 4-6 people and and approximately $5,000USD per person for groups of 2-3. The price includes your transport during the tour, all winery visits and tastings, a gourmet lunch every day with excellent wines, all taxes, and gratuities. A final price per person will be given to you once your customized tour is finalized, as it depends on the number of people in your group. Payment is taken in full once you approve the final itinerary, which we have customized for you.

When you go on a Fine Vintage wine tour you get VIP treatment at wineries. You will have access to places and people that others can’t. It’s a luxurious experience, and certainly one for the bucket list.

I invite you to join us.

HOW IT WORKS

We need 60 days notice to organize a tour for you. The more lead time we have the easier it is to make appointments at the very best wineries.

Step 1: You complete the form below, letting us know what dates you would like to book and how many people are in your group. We will investigate the possibilities and reply to you within a few days with a proposed itinerary and final price per person.

Step 2: Upon acceptance of the itinerary, we will send you a booking form and a payment link. You are responsible for booking your own accommodation (hotel or Airbnb). We will give you hotel suggestions.

Step 3: Once you have paid in full, we will send you tips on what to do in Tuscany, where to eat, and what to wear during the tour. We will also send you the contact details of your local Tuscan team and your driver, along with the final itinerary.

Please try to avoid the following Italian holidays as most wineries are closed:

TIMING

We run private tours 12 months of the year. The tours must take place on weekdays. Our 3-day tour must start on either a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.

Anytime is a great time to visit Tuscany, including the winter months. The weather is ideal in May-June and September-October. Generally, we would recommend avoiding August as many Italians take summer holidays, but we still run private tours in August if that is what works for your schedule.

Please try to avoid the following Italian holidays as most wineries are closed:

SAMPLE ITINERARY

DAY 1

CHIANTI CLASSICO & GRAND CASTELLOS

The driver picks you up at your accommodations in Florence at 10.00 a.m. and you head south to the heart of Tuscany wine country: Chianti Classico, the world’s oldest official wine appellation. About one hour later you’ll find yourself mesmerized by the hills and history of the region, thirsty for your first taste of the incredible wines from here.

Your first visit is at a family-operated, boutique estate where the hosts will greet you and explain the grape growing and winemaking process. We typically visit Fontodi, Monteraponi, Castello di Rampolla, Castello di Monsanto, and others.

After your 90-minute visit, you are off to your second visit of the day where you will delve deeper into the great wines of Chianti Classico at another historic estate. Villa Calcinaia, Quercia al Poggio, and Badia a Coltibuono regularly welcome us. This visit also includes a long lunch where the wine flows and each bite is better than the last.

After 2 winery visits and a spectacular lunch the driver will take you to your accommodation in Siena, arriving at around 5.00 p.m. You have the evening free to explore this magical city.

DAY 2
MAGICAL MONTEPULCIANO

With a 10 a.m. departure time, you have the morning to sleep in, have an espresso, and take a morning stroll before setting southeast to the charming medieval town of Montepulciano.
One hour later you will be starting your first tour of the day – a visit to a local pecorino cheese producer. A hard, salty cheese similar to parmigiano, pecorino is one of Italy’s oldest cheeses whose traditions are protected by similar laws that protect the classic wines of the region. This visit will whet your appetite for your first winery visit of the day.
At about 12:30 p.m. you’re invited to another long, luxurious lunch replete with sensational wines. Avignonesi, La Braccesca Antinori, Bindella, and Salcheto play host to this spectacular visit that will last up to 3 hours. Be sure to pace yourself for the final visit of the day.
By 4 p.m. you will enter the doors of a family-run winery to round out your spectacular day in Montepulciano. A visit to Poderi Boscarelli, Poliziano, Contucci, or Il Conventino is the perfect way to satisfy your palates before returning to Siena. Your chauffeur will drop you off at your accommodation at around 6:30 p.m. for another free evening in Siena.

DAY 3
THE BRUNELLOS OF MONTALCINO

On the third and final day we start off at 10 a.m. for a visit to two wineries in Montalcino, the charming medieval hilltop village that is home to outstanding wines purely made from Sangiovese. It will be a day to remember.

Your day begins with a visit to one of the great estates of this iconic region. Argiano, Castelgiocondo Frescobaldi, Sesti, Gianni Brunelli, or Le Chiuse start the day with an exploration of their winemaking process, their historic cellars where wines age for at least 5 years before release, and of course, a magnificent tasting.

It is hard to follow a visit like that, but we do with a lunch to remember at Podere Le Ripi, Capanna, or Le Ragnaie. Here your hosts will welcome you with true Tuscan hospitality where the wine and food will seemingly flow endlessly into the late afternoon hours.

Before returning to Siena, a walk around the steep, cobblestoned lanes of Montalcino will help burn some of those calories and provide some time for shopping. Your driver will bring you back to your Siena accommodation by 7 p.m.

TESTIMONIALS

The experience was all we could have asked for!

“My wife Karen and I were on the Tuscany tour in May. The experience was all we could have asked for.

The tour had a good balance of scheduled events and free time. The accommodations were excellent, very comfortable and clean. The wineries we toured were top quality and it was a treat to visit some locations which we would not be able to see if we were on our own.

Lastly, I must comment on the rest of the tour group. We were very pleased with the other members of the tour, who all seemed to enjoy each other's company. It was certainly not a bus full of wine snobs. The group had lots of knowledge, but never let it get in the way of having a few laughs. We look forward to the next trip we can take with Fine Vintage!”
